The Sun’s out at last

It’s quite true that farmers are never happy about the weather!!! Those long sunny days helped us through lockdown but played havoc with our grazing plans as the grass just didn’t grow. All our animals are 100% grass fed so we are completely reliant on our pasture both for our grazing and for making the silage that we feed all winter.

Then true to form, the rains appeared and didn’t know when to stop. We were some four weeks later than planned cutting our second round of silage and it was quite a stress to get it mown, rowed in and baled up in-between the ongoing showers.

So what a joy to have the sun shine over the last few days and our clever Carina chose a very good day to give birth to our latest bull calf!
